A Year of Growth, Connection, and Purpose at Operation Horses Heal
As we reflect on this past year at Operation Horses Heal, one word rises above the rest: connection.
Connection to animals.
Connection to nature.
Connection to one another.
This year has been one of steady growth, meaningful moments, and deepened relationships with Veterans, active service members, and their families. Every interaction — whether around the herd, by the campfire, or through our growing community outreach — reaffirmed why Operation Horses Heal exists: to create space where people can relax, rejuvenate, and simply be themselves.
Expanding Opportunities to Connect with the Herd
Throughout the year, Operation Horses Heal continued to offer inclusive, equine-related activities designed to meet people where they are. Our programming emphasized herd observation, presence, and interactions with animals, allowing participants to engage at their own pace in a natural, welcoming environment.
We saw firsthand how powerful it can be to slow down, step outside, and experience connection without expectation. These moments — quiet, reflective, and often unexpected — remain at the heart of everything we do.
Growing Community Support and Partnerships
This year also brought increased community support, reminding us that Operation Horses Heal is truly a collective effort.
From individual donors and local businesses to collaborative partners who believe in our mission, the encouragement we received made it possible to continue serving Veterans and their families with intention and care. Our partnerships helped keep overhead low while ensuring the equines who make this work possible are well supported.
We are especially grateful to those who chose to sponsor a horse or donkey, donate, volunteer, or simply share our work with others. These actions — large and small — created real, lasting impact.
Progress Toward Long-Term Vision
While this year focused on strengthening our foundation, we also made thoughtful progress toward long-term goals. Planning continued around expanding access to equine-related activities and exploring ways to reach Veterans who may face barriers to participation.
Each step forward brought us closer to creating more consistent opportunities for connection and engagement across our region.
These efforts are guided by a clear vision:
A space where Veterans, active service members, and their immediate families can relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect — with the hope of improving and enriching their lives and wellbeing.
Honoring the People Behind the Mission
Operation Horses Heal is shaped not just by programs, but by people.
This year, we were honored to work alongside participants who showed up with openness and curiosity, volunteers who gave their time and energy, and supporters who trusted us with their generosity. Many of the stories shared around the herd will never be written down — and that feels right. What matters most is that people felt welcome, seen, and supported.
Looking Ahead
As we move into the coming year, our focus remains the same: connection over complexity, presence over pressure, and people over programs.
We are excited to continue growing thoughtfully, strengthening relationships, and expanding opportunities for Veterans and their families to experience the grounding presence of animals and nature.
Thank you for being part of Operation Horses Heal — whether you joined us in person, supported us from afar, partnered with us as a sponsor, or shared our mission with someone who needed it.
We look forward to the year ahead.
