2026 Offerings

Farm Visit

Explore the tranquil setting of Operation Horses Heal, where Veterans, active military, and their families can experience meaningful interactions with our horses and donkeys. Our farm visits are designed to foster connection with nature and the herd, offering a rejuvenating break from the pressures of daily life.

During these visits, each moment here invites a fresh perspective, encouraging peace and grounding.

Operation Horses Heal’s dedicated team, composed of Veterans and community members, is here to support each visitor. Every interaction at the farm not only strengthens ties with the natural world but also upholds our mission to reduce isolation and provide a space of belonging for Veterans and their families. Contact us for scheduling.  This is a great way to chat about what we offer and see what meets your needs. Farm visits are open to veterans, military, and their loved ones.

Stillness and Stregnth

This 5- or 6-week series (depending on which you pick) offers Veterans the opportunity to develop practical self-regulation skills while engaging with horses in a quiet, supportive setting. Sessions focus on presence, awareness, and learning how to recognize and respond to stress in the moment. Participants spend time with the herd through observation and guided interaction, practicing grounding techniques that support emotional regulation, focus, and balance. Horses communicate through movement and behavior, allowing Veterans to experience connection and regulation without the need for conversation or explanation.
  • No horse experience is required.
  • There is no riding, and participants are never asked to share more than they are comfortable with.
  • This is a space to engage, reset, and build skills that can carry into everyday life.
  • Sessions are held in small groups of no more than 6 participants to maintain a sense of safety and personal attention.
  • These offerings are free of charge.

Our custom-tailored retreats are designed to meet the unique needs of each participant, with a focus on fostering camaraderie, reducing isolation, and building skills in a peaceful, natural setting. Mobile Outreach

Operation Horses Heal’s Mobile Outreach Program increases access to inclusive, non-clinical, and sober-friendly support for Veterans, military members, and their families—especially those in rural and underserved communities. Through community-based outreach, equine-assisted learning experiences, educational activities, and informal connection opportunities, the program brings meaningful engagement directly to Veterans where they already gather, reducing barriers such as distance, transportation, mobility limitations, and isolation.

Mobile outreach activities may include community events, partner-hosted gatherings, educational demonstrations, resource-sharing opportunities, herd interaction experiences, and experiential learning activities with horses and donkeys. Outreach may also include visits with Veterans who are homebound, receiving hospice care, living in nursing care facilities, or residing at Wisconsin Veterans Homes. These visits are designed to provide companionship, connection, emotional support, and meaningful engagement in environments that are accessible and comfortable for participants.

Programs are designed to foster connection, belonging, emotional wellbeing, resilience, and renewed purpose in a safe and welcoming environment. Operation Horses Heal emphasizes relationship-building, peer connection, and accessible support outside of clinical settings, creating opportunities for Veterans and families to engage at their own comfort level.

The program supports Operation Horses Heal’s mission of expanding access to community-centered support while strengthening partnerships throughout Wisconsin. Mobile outreach also helps connect participants to future opportunities for ongoing engagement through community events, small groups, volunteer activities, and equine-assisted learning experiences. This approach aligns with the organization’s strategic focus on increasing rural access, reducing isolation, and building sustainable, community-based pathways for connection and wellbeing. Organizations interested in scheduling a mobile outreach visit, presentation, or Veteran engagement opportunity may contact Rachael at 715-255-0263 or email director@operationhorsesheal.org for more information.

Equine Connection Sessions

Equine Connection Sessions are individualized, ground-based equine-assisted learning experiences designed to support connection, reflection, and personal growth alongside horses and donkeys.

Each session is guided by the participant’s goals and may include herd observation, mindfulness and grounding activities, relationship-building with the horses and donkeys, and opportunities for reflection in a calm, supportive environment. Sessions are non-riding and are not therapy, counseling, or clinical treatment.

Participants may choose a 2-week, 4-week, or 6-week program based on their goals, interests, and ideal schedule.  Your schedule, your way!  At the conclusion of a program, participants are welcome to renew and continue sessions as many times as they wish. These experiences are available for Veterans, military members, and their loved ones throughout the US.  Funding for these sessions has been provided through the generosity of United Way and the LB Charitable Trust.
