Summer BBQ for the Veterans Wrap Up

The Operation Horses Heal Summer BBQ was a day full of fun, connection, and great food—thanks to Eggn’4Heroes! Veterans and their families came together to enjoy a delicious meal, win door prizes, and take part in a variety of activities around the farm. With beautiful weather on our side, everyone was able to relax and enjoy all that the day had to offer. Want to see what else we have cookin’ for the summer? Check out our schedule here.

You might be thinking–“Wait a minute! I thought this was an equine-assisted services program! What does grilling out have to do with that?” Well, you’re right, we ARE an equine-assisted services program–with connection being a core value in our work. What better way to connect with our Veteran community than to create space for some great food and excellent conversation? Not only does this event bring Veterans from all over the U.S., it also connects Veterans to local resources as well as generates tourism revenue for those who chose to grab a hotel or visit local businesses while they are enjoying the beautiful northwoods of Wisconsin. Interested in learning more about the services we have to offer? Head on over to this page to check it out!

BBQ goers got to enjoy several activities during the day, including doing leather work and making some self-care boxes. For the kids, there was also the opportunity to enjoy the bounce house and get their faces painted.

Looks like a Great place! I’m a veteran that served in Desert Storm. Years later I still struggle with PTSD. I have had minimal exposure to equine therapy and would love to visit sometime.
Do you have space for car camping overnight or space for a tent overnight?
I will check out your events page.
Thanx for helping veterans! 🇺🇸

Hi Jane! Sorry for the delay in responding–this comment got lost in a sea of spam! Yes, you can camp here! There are many veterans who choose to do so. Let us know if you’d like to join us and we’ll make sure you’ve got a place to camp. 🙂
